Temporary exhibitions : Gérard Titus Carmel

Temporary exhibitions : Gérard Titus Carmel

Ramures & Retombes - Musée de Vence - From January 27th to May 27th.

The exhibition representing the work of Gérard Titus-Carmel will be built around his double activity – painting and writing.
It revolves around the unedited follow-up of Retombes made up of seven paintings and nine collages, which will, in consonance, present the works which are preceding it and from which it originates : the large sparkling paintings of  Brisées – sur la Route de la Soie, those of the recent follow-ups of Ramures or even Labyrinthes.
As a painter, illustrator and engraver, the artist participated in close to 500 group exhibitions and over 200 private exhibitions in galleries (Daniel Templon, Maeght, then Lelong…)as well as in museums and large public institutions and among those about a dozen retrospectives (among those the MNAM, Centre Georges Pompidou, 1978) were dedicated to him all over the world
where his work is represented in about 100 museums and public collections. He has officially represented France in numerous international events (Biennale de Paris, 1969; Expo’70, Osaka, 1970, Biennale Internazionale d’Arte, Venice, 1972 and 1984).

Gérard Titus Carmel will be the mentor of the 2018 edition of the Printemps des poètes 2018 in Vence. On this occasion, a complementary exhibition of engravings by the artist will be displayed at the local Médiathèque.
